Cisco Press and other retailers have sold eBooks for a long while, as do many other retailers. Those eBooks contained an electronic version of the printed pages of the book, and any soft-copy chapters associated with the book. Each retailer then had some mechanism to allow download of most of the CD/DVD content that came with the print book. However, in the past, those downloads typically did not include the practice tests.
The Cisco Press Premium Edition eBook and Practice Test concept marries the eBook to practice tests. So it's an upgrade from the old eBook: eBook, plus the usual DVD content, plus the practice exams. Additionally, Cisco Press includes extra practice tests that are not included with the print book.
