Wendell says - VERY IMPORTANT INFO DURING CCNA TRANSITION
Cisco announced new versions of the CCENT and CCNA Routing and Switching exams on March 26, 2013. You can take the new exams now, and the old exams through September 30, 2013.
We're working on a new version of the Simulator. In the mean time, if you buy the existing Simulator direct from the publisher, there is a path through which you will receive a free upgrade once the new simulator is ready later in the year. However, you need to follow the steps on the publisher's web site.
Just looking to learn about the simulator, period? The CCNA Simulator simulates the Command Line Interface (CLI) of Cisco routers and switches, and simulates the majority of the configuration and exec commands included in the CCNA certification. The user can learn the CLI user interface, navigation, and the most important commands for CCNA. It uses multiple pre-defined topologies, with pre-defined initial configurations, and with labs guide you towards important points to learn.
Also, note that you do not get anything extra when buying this boxed set as opposed to downloading the product. The boxed package is a DVD plus the cardboard box and other packaging.

Library Options
A library should be announced by the publisher once the new Simulator version is ready. In the mean time, if you want the books and the Sim, buy the books in library form, and buy the Sim separately, to allow for later upgrade.
